Julia's Story
Nàdarra is the product of an itchy skin condition and a whole lot of dreams. In April, 2004, Julia was working at a medication safety organization in Toronto and using her lunch hours to get to the bottom of the mysterious rash on her forehead. Once she discovered its chemical cause, she began to develop products to alleviate her problem and quickly found that others liked them too.
Julia no longer relied on doctors, dermatologists, naturopaths and suspicious-looking steroid creams to treat (or diagnose) her skin condition. After using Nàdarra’s mixture of plant extracts, oils, vitamins and proteins for one week, her skin steadily improved and continues to look great.
Julia is committed to providing gentle, natural, alternatives to toxic skin care products on the market. After establishing Nàdarra she traveled to India to study Ayurveda, the 5000-year-old grandfather of holistic health. She learned that substances including oils are absorbed through the skin and penetrate deeply into connective tissue and organs. They carry existing impurities with them, contributing to a chemical “body burden” of (on average) 167 pollutants, including 56 carcinogens. For more information visit

In accordance with Ayurveda, “Nàdarra”--meaning “natural” in Gaelic--honors the body’s natural aversion to synthetics and chemical poisons. By respecting our body’s permeability to toxins, we respect ourselves and the Creator, of whom we are each a microcosm.
You may be wondering:
“So what were all of those things in my skin cream?”
Perhaps you should ask yourself this too. Here are a few common ingredients:
• Parabens – Preservatives, found whole and undigested in breast tumors. Estrogenic chemicals and endocrine disruptors, immune system toxicants.
• Triethanolamine – Cancer hazard, immune system toxicant, insufficient safety data, potential harmful impurities. PH control. Derived from ammonia & ethylene oxide.
• Dimethicone – Cancer suspect. Causes tumors and mutations in laboratory animals. Antifoaming agent. Derived from synthetic silicone polymer.
• Phenoxyethanol – Reproductive/developmental toxicity, irritating to eyes, lungs and skin, wildlife/environmental toxicity. Synthetic preservative.
